a nostalgic indie show in the making

new update on my series! 🎀✨

now, when it comes to the aesthetic or look of my future show, i’ve said i wanted to use the “whimsy aesthetic” as inspiration for my indie show, but now, i thought of another thing and that is making it feel nostalgic

now what do i mean by “nostalgic”? well, i’ve been seeing some tiktok videos that are like “growing up during the obama presidency” and the most common themes in the photos shown are stuff like watching pbs kids or nick jr, going to barnes and noble, etc. the obama presidency refers to the years 2009-2016, from obama’s inauguration to the end of his second term ;)

this is a perfect choice for me because personally, i was born during obama’s first term and i’ve experienced the whole 2010s era. i used to be a huge sesame street and lalaloopsy fan :3

here’s how i would make this show feel nostalgic to all my closest gen z buddies. i would make the videos themselves 720p, have a little channel logo and tv rating specifically placed within a 4:3 space within the 16:9 aspect ratio (the image above this text shows what i mean) as if someone’s watching it on a more older television.. this is supposed to replicate an HDTV recording of a pbs-esque show from the early 2010s, a time when we transitioned from analog to digital and HDTVs were becoming less expensive and more accessible.
